A very busy Willow week!

14th Nov 2019

The children in Willow Class have had a very busy week.

This week we have be focusing on the value of Respect. At the beginning of the week we talked about why we mark Remembrance Day, using stories to help to learn about different people and animals who were affected by the war. We gathered silently in the school prayer garden to remember all those who gave their lives to help us to live in peace and freedom. Mr Carr led our service. The children had made class wreaths to remember.

Then, towards the end of the week we have been learning all about our school supporting Children in Need. We got to wear our own clothes and raise money. We also learnt about some of the good causes that Children in need help with the money raised.

During Literacy the children have enjoyed reading the big book Pig in the Pond. They recognised the initial sounds and tricky words we have been learning and were able to apply their phonic knowledge to segment and blend words such as p-i-g, s-a-d and s-a-t.
