Cedar class learned about Eid

14th Jun 2018

Our value this week is Tolerance. We have learned that Tolerance is about valuing everybody's individual beliefs. This week our Muslim families are celebrating Eid. Cedar class have been really interested to find out more about how Eid is celebrated. We learned that Ramadan ends when the people in the Mosque in Mecca see the new moon then Eid can be celebrated. We looked at lots of pictures of different Mosques. We noticed that there was a moon at the top of the Mosque. We learned that Muslim families celebrate Eid by wearing new clothes. We learned that people visit Mosques to pray and then have parties with their friends to celebrate Eid. We looked at a Quran and a prayer mat and found out why these are special. The children used collage and mark making materials to design their own mendhi patterns, Eid cards, Mosques and prayer mats. We can't wait to share what we have learned with our families at home! Eid Mubarak to all our families who are celebrating Eid this week!
