We will remember them.

12th Nov 2018

This week we will be focusing on the value of Respect. All of the classes have been learning about why we mark Remembrance Day.  They have been using stories to help them to learn about different people and animals who were effected by war.

As we walked out to the prayer garden we listened to the bugle call of the last post sounding.  We gathered silently in the prayer garden to remember all those who gave their lives to help us to live in peace and freedom.  Rev Jane led our service.

The children had made class wreaths to remember those who had given so much so that we can enjoy our lives today. Each class brought forwards their wreaths to lay.

Rev Jane told us a story about a local man and his horse who had fought in the war.

Rev Jane read a poem:

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

We all respectfully reflected in silence and awaited the the bugle call of Reveille.
