Reflection and RE

26th Jan 2023

This half term, we have been living life in all its fullness by thinking about brand new big questions: Who was the Buddha, and what does it mean to be a Buddhist?

We have found out that the Buddha was alive 500 years before Jesus and did lots of meditating to think about the world. He came up with 8 important rules, which Buddhists follow today. Those rules involve being kind to the world and kind to others. We have been able to link this to our 12 Christian values, which we show every day!

We have enjoyed learning about the story of Buddha and the swan, as well as comparing a monk's life to our own! We were very interested to find out that they don't have hair or earn any money or eat dinner! We also found out that they love to learn and eat breakfast together just like we do!

We have been very good at linking our knowledge of Buddhism to our learning about the 14th Dalai Lama, who is the head of Tibetan Buddhism.
