This week we have been busy learning about different cultures and religions. We started the week by celebrating Chinese New Year and designed our very own dragon for a dragon dance. The children collaborated and made a dragon out of different materials. They liked mixing textures and really enjoyed the sensory experience. Some of the materials they used were cloth, felt tips and wooden sticks. They recognised lots of similarities between what they do at Christmas time and what the Chinese children did for their new year. Our creativity has not stopped there. It has flowed throughout the week, today the children enjoyed creating their favourite memory from our church trip. Baylee, Alisha, Diana, Violet and Ariana made a portrait of the special ladies who helped them make their candles and crowns at the church.
