Following on from us zooming to the moon last week and our discussions about the earth, Nursery have been learning about day and night/light and dark this week.
We have focussed on helping the children become familiar with the times of day associated with their everyday routines. We watch the day and night videos and discussed light and dark, asking the children to say if the video was day or night, light or dark? The children then answered some questions on the interactive whiteboard I.e. when do you brush your teeth? day or night or either/both?
Following on from this, we looked at our school day and the children had a go at sequencing their day through pictures. This helps children to think about events during the school day and to sequence them in order. We encouraged the children to describe their day using words such as ‘first’, ‘then...’
Finally, its been lovely to see the children enjoying their Nursery environment, from digging in the mud kitchen to building towers of lego with their friends. I must say though, dancing to our number song doing the cowboy dance seems to be the firm favourite for all!
