Exciting first week back!

7th Nov 2019

What a great first week back Willow Class!

Our value this week is Tolerance. We have learned that Tolerance is about valuing everybody's individual beliefs. We started our week showing our value of tolerance focusing on a different culture. Willow class have been really interested to find out more about how Diwali is celebrated and the meaning of this celebration. We talked about Diwali being the festival of light and how it is celebrated with fireworks just like on bonfire night. We then took part in a dance workshop where we were told the story of Rama and Sita and given dance moves to help us act out and re-tell the story. Next, the children used mark making materials to design their own mehndi patterns and make their very own diva lamps using clay to light the way for Rama and Sita to go home.

Finally, as it was bonfire night and the children have been so excited telling us about all of the displays they have attended, we decided to have a bonfire themed PE/dance lesson with Cedar Class. The children were amazing and had fun moving with streamers to a range of slow and fast music pretending to be different fireworks. For a hall filled with nearly 60 Reception children our value of tolerance was definitely shown. All of the Reception staff are extremely proud of you all!!!.
