Exploration in Evergreen!

11th Jan 2024

This week in Evergreen we have been "Living Life In All It's Fullness" becoming scientists. We have had A WOW afternoon to introduce our new learning on Greta Thunberg. We explored different types of pollution including air, noise, water and soil pollution and the impact they can have on our world and its animals.  We carried out some experiments which we will observe over time to see the impact of acid rain and also soil pollution where we have buried different materials to observe how quickly they break down. Next, we observed the impact of oil pollution on birds and their feathers and discussed how they would be affected by this. We also explored the impact of global warming on the ice caps and animal populations which live there. We learned how to make bird feeders using recycled materials and will be watching to see if we are visited by any birds. Finally we thought about sea turtles and played a game where we discussed the impact of natural verses man made issues on their survival.

It has been a wonderful week hearing all about the exciting things which have happened over Christmas. You have all come back ready to continue your learning and it is a pleasure to see your enthusiasm for new learning.
