Foggy, Foggy Forest Fun!

25th Nov 2021

Lots of fun in Nursery again this week!

The children have really enjoyed our new book ‘The Foggy Foggy Forest’ and have done really well learning the repeated refrains in the story – “What can this be in the foggy, foggy forest?” ask the children at home and see if they can tell you all about the story and what they can remember was hiding in the fog!

We have also been counting lots and learning to match numerals to an amount of objects. They really enjoyed the number hunt and helping Grandma Nora count all the buttons on her freshly baked gingerbread people.

Finally, we have been looking at different ways of mark making which is one of the key building blocks in developing early writing. Initially we got our fingers warmed up with fine motor activities such as using tweezers to pick up pom poms, using pegs and moulding playdough. Then Nursery were mark making on large pieces of paper outside, using white boards and pens, post it notes, note books, clip boards, chalk boards, walls and even in the sand.

These are marks that will gradually develop into writing and drawing and its lovely to see they children expressing themselves and their ideas.
