Jack and the Baked Beanstalk
Year 2's new book is 'Jack and the Baked Beanstalk', which is an alternative version of the traditional tale 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. We have loved discovering what happened when this traditional fairytale unfolded in a modern metropolis.
In this version, Jack and his Mum live in a city and live/work in an old burger van. They end up close to becoming broke, as a new flyover was built above their van. Jack had spent his last pennies on a can of baked beans, which his Mum threw out of the window....starting a GIANT adventure!
Jack climbed up the enormous baked beanstalk to uncover the biggest castle he had ever seen! Inside he met the friendliest giant, who loved to cook golden eggs and baked beans. They all worked together at the famous Baked Beanstalk Cafe.
