Reading is a very important part of developing children’s imaginations and we are very lucky in Willow class to have a lovely reading area with both fiction and non-fiction texts as well as our prayer area with bibles and bible stories. Miss Tullett, Miss Read and Miss McCabe have a love of reading and share wonderful stories with the children to instil the love of books every day.
It really makes us smile and is wonderful to see the children use our areas to look at books, discuss the pictures with each other and tell their friends why they like the book. The children are starting to recognise some of the sounds we have covered in phonics as well as the tricky words we have been learning and are also starting to apply their phonic knowledge to segment and blend simple words.
