Mark making in Cedar Class

16th Sep 2021
The children have been busy experimenting with different materials and making marks this week. There have been post it notes everywhere, decorated with lots of meaningful marks. We have had shopping lists, recipes, registers, certificates and labels. At one point, every child in the class had a pencil in their hand. The children have enjoyed colouring and choosing colours for a purpose. They have drawn pictures of their family and their favourite things. We have had lots of rainbows. In the provision the children have been applying their mark making and early writing skills. As a small group they built a zoo with the wooden blocks. The children chose the animals they wanted and made signs to go with the enclosures. We know how important block play and large construction play is and the impact it has on our writing. We have been doing lots of activities to develop our gross motor skills, which in time will help to develop our fine motor skills. Mrs Guilfoyle was very impressed. Well done Cedar Class
