We have made a great start to counting and learning numbers in Willow Class. We have been singing lots of counting songs and learning the actions to go with them. We have been counting at every possible opportunity such as how many children are here today? How long does it take for everyone to sit down on the carpet? How many children are in the home corner? Can you set the dining table for 4 people? Can you put 10 objects in each basket at tidy up time? Etc. We have even been using real pennies to buy our drinks and fruit at snack time so that the children understand the concept of money. In our class grocery shop the children have been looking at how much items cost and have been going to the till to buy items. We may only be 4 and 5, but what great mathematicians we are becoming already!
