Nursery Rhyme Week
This week has been Nursery Rhyme Week in Reception. Organised by Music Bugs, World Nursery Rhyme Week promotes the importance of nursery rhymes in early childhood development and education. We have had lots of fun singing songs, learning the actions and all of our curriculum activities this week have been based around the songs. The Nursery Rhymes we’ve focussed on this year have been –
Row Row Row Your Boat
Down In The Jungle
Incy Wincy Spider
Baa Baa Black Sheep
Two Little Dicky Birds
Willow have also enjoyed another session of Write Dance. This is a movement based method of training and developing children’s fine and gross co-ordination. Write Dance movements are designed to help children feel happy and comfortable with their bodies, improving their motor skills and providing a strong foundation for writing.
Children need to be well co-ordinated through their whole body, not just their hands and fingers so this week we’ve also focussed on activities that help to develop the children's gross and fine motor skills such as jumping, threading, balancing, play dough, lego, cutting, chalking, drawing/colouring and using pegs. Keep it up Willow!
