Oracy!

Cedar class have been living life in all its fullness developing their Oracy skills. Oracy is the ability to express yourself fluently and communicate effectively with other people. Developing their Oracy skills at this young age is important. It enables the children to articulate their ideas and thoughts, listen to others and have the confidence to express their views. It also has an impact on their social/emotional skills, making them more confident, self-aware and resilient. We encourage the children to share their ideas throughout the different subjects especially Literacy. Before writing the children compose and rehearse their sentences orally before putting their ideas on paper. In Reception we also focus on the retelling of stories and other speaking and listening activities, which leads to better quality caption writing.
