Our Community Mural - Unveiled in all its Fullness!
10 of our amazingly creative year 2 children have been working with a local artist as part of the local community project to celebrate our wonderful community of Frankley and brighten up a gloomy walkway. The project involved groups from Holly Hill School, Frankley Plus Children's Centre, Grace Church, Rainbows, Friends of Balaam Wood, Balaam Wood School and Reaside Academy.
We met with the artist to talk about our school and our community and shared our ideas for designs with him. He was impressed with our children's flair for art and their passion and hope for our community. It was an exciting and inspiring experience to meet and work with a real life artist and to help to create art that will continue to inspire other people in our community.
Our design celebrates Life in all its Fullness; our school's vision for our community. The river Rea flows through the heart of our community and flows through all of the murals; connecting the art work from each group and symbolising our unity as a community.
The huge murals can be seen on the walkway that runs from school to the local shops, opposite our community library. Go and have a look and tell us what you think!
