Our School is a Church School - RE in Cedar

3rd Oct 2020

For RE this week we learned about special places. The children shared their special places and talked about places they like to go to.

We learned that our school is a special place too, where we come together as a family and become Cedar Class at Holly Hill. Our uniform shows others that we belong to this special family and we wear it with pride.

The children learned the name of the bird on our uniform and why it is important to us. Our values will help us to spread peace and make the world a better place. We discussed how the Dove brought hope in the story of Noah’s Ark which was very fitting as our value of the week was hope.

The children also learned that our school is part of the wider church family. They learned of the signs and symbols which indicate that we are a church school. They looked for these and were excited when they found them. They found a bible, a candle, a cross and our school logo.

We quietly reflected and thought about our special places whilst we listened to music and watched the candles flicker, reminding us that Christians believe Jesus is the light of the world. Then we finished with our school prayer, reminding us to do all the good we can.
