Our Wonderful Harvest Festival 2018

9th Oct 2018

Our whole school community came together to celebrate life in all its Fullness at our Harvest Festival. It was a very special celebration. We are very thankful for all of the very generous gifts that families brought in and for our families who came to celebrate with us in school.

The children have been working hard to learn songs and actions and they really enjoyed performing these as part of our celebration. Caz told us a story about how a whole community came together to help an old lady to make soup and how the soup then fed the whole community. This story helped us to think about why we celebrate our Harvest Festival and why sharing what we have helps others in our community.

The Harvest gifts that children offered will go to a local foodbank to support them in their work. Thelma from the foodbank visited us last week to explain how foodbanks bring hope to people in times of need. The children were captivated by her story. She explained what she does when she volunteers at the foodbank. Her visit helped the children to understand how our Harvest Festival demonstrates our values of hope, thankfulness and love. It also helped us all to think about how Harvest is a celebration of life in all it's Fullness and how our donations can share this Fullness of life with others in our community.
