Phonics and Spellings in Year 2

In Year 2, we work really hard on our spellings daily. Following the Super Sonic Friends Scheme, we follow a program of phonemes and  graphemes through movement which we enjoy immensely! Our phonics are then reflected in the each week's spellings so that we can use the sounds we have been learning or revising to help us spell each word. This week, we are revising some of the Phase 5 phonics in the 'Choose to Use' category. To help with reading at home, these sounds are also directly linked to your child's reading book. Another group have been learning the Year 2 spelling rules, this week's focus is to add the suffix er. Please remember the importance of  encouraging your child to learn their spellings. This will have a positive impact on both their reading and writing skills.
