Phonics in Nursery.
In nursery, children are just beginning their phonics journey with the Firm Foundations level of Super Sonic Phonic Friends. During this stage, they develop important skills such as:
- Listening and recognising different sounds.
- Enhancing rhyming abilities and spotting rhymes.
- Focusing on alliteration by hearing words that start with the same letter.
As they advance, they practise sounds in words like 'c-a-t' and 'd-o-g'. This week, they enjoyed the story "We're Going on a Bear Hunt," making sounds like 'swishy swashy' grass and creating marks on large paper. They also loved making their own magic counting sticks and counting various objects in the classroom. Finally, the children learned about Antarctica and enjoyed creating artwork with an Arctic theme! Have a look at the children living life in all its fullness.
