Phonics in Nursery
20th Jun 2024
This week Nursery have enjoyed the sunnier weather and spent lots of time outside. We loved spending time on the school field and enjoyed exploring the longer grass looking for bugs. Back in our classroom we have continued our retelling of the three little pigs and shown our knowledge of the story by creating the three pigs houses.
In phonics, Saplings have continued developing their listening skills by identifying and recalling different sounds. They have used wooden beaters outside to hear how the sounds change depending on what they hit. They noticed how loud the metal fence was and how quiet the grass seats were. Conkers have been developing their oral blending skills using 'Dig the Dog' puppet who can only use sound talk. The children have loved playing games with the puppet and are really good at repeating the sounds and blending them back together to work out what the word is. Well done Nursery, you really are 'living life in all its fullness'.
