RE in Fir Class
This week we have been embracing ‘Life in all its Fullness’ during our RE sessions. Our whole school Christian value was ‘Tolerance’ which fit in perfectly with what we have been learning about in our RE lessons. This half term we have been learning about Buddhism and during our RE lessons this week we have been comparing our lives with that of young Buddhist Monks.
We watched some very interesting videos that showed us what a typical day was like for a monk. Did you know that Buddhist Monks only eat two meals per day? They don’t have any more food after lunch until the next morning. This is to help them to have a clear mind for meditation. The children gave some very thoughtful answers about how are lives are the same and different. The children were so respectful and showed our value of ‘Tolerance’ in action.
We were given some pictures to sort and had to decide it they were for ‘Me’ or ‘The Monk’. In the following lesson, we wrote about how we were the same and how we were different.
Please enjoy some examples of our children’s work. You could ask your child to tell you some facts about what life is like for the monks too.
