The children are in the consolidation phase of their 'Supersonic Phonics' journey. We have learned all the single sounds, digraphs, and trigraphs up to Basics 3. We are making sure to run through all the sounds daily, so they are embedded into the children’s long-term memory. Please practice their sounds with them at home, as this will really help them as they transition into year one. Our focus in phonics is being able to hear each sound in a word and write the letters down to match. We are also using our phonics knowledge to help us spell out words with consonant clusters, vowel digraphs, and trigraphs, for example, buzz or mess. Most children can now write a sentence with a full stop and capital letter and re-read it to check that it makes sense, which is amazing!
