Sustainability Week!
1st May 2025
The children have been 'Living Life in all its Fullness' being sustainable. They have learnt that being sustainable will protect their future in the following ways:
- It will provide them with a healthy environment. Sustainability reduces pollution, which helps ensure clean air, water, and food. All of these are essential for their health and development.
- By living sustainably, we can slow down climate change, reducing the risks of extreme weather, natural disasters, and other threats that can affect their safety and well-being.
- Sustainability means using natural resources wisely, so they will still have access to clean water, energy, and materials.
- Learning about sustainability helps the children grow up with values of care, responsibility and empathy, preparing them to be mindful beings.
As part of our journey to make Holly Hill more sustainable, the children have been given responsibility to put their learning into action. We have weekly Eco Warriors who will turn off lights, check water is not being wasted and recycle materials/food correctly. This week we have planted strawberry and tomato plants and created bird feeders to care for God's creatures. We have also began maintaining our new vegetable patch in the school field.
