Taking care, taking turns and sharing in Blossom

11th Feb 2022

We have had another busy week in Blossom. The children have been developing their social skills and learning through play.

Our week started with a pretend picnic. The children made a menu and sent invitations to their friends. They took it in turns to prepare, cook and share the food.

We discussed where food comes from, which then led to an interest in shops. The children wrote their own shopping lists, grabbed a basket, some money and went shopping. They had fun taking on the role as customer and shopkeeper.

The children also enjoyed building towns and farms alongside their train set. They were able to build together, share their space, take turns and use this week’s value, patience. They even helped each other with an emergency when the animals were on the track.

We also pursued an interest of worms after finding one outside. We took care of it and made a special home, using damp soil. We researched what worms eat and how to look after them. Olivia enjoyed watching the worms move and even pretended to be a worm herself.
