We absolutely love reading in Maple class and are beginning to develop fantastic reading strategies. Everyone in the class has thier own reading book. Please make sure that we have this book in school everyday as we really do enjoy reading and sharing it with an adult....and getting a new book every Friday!
Everyday during our phonics sessions we practice our segmenting and blending skills to help us decode words. This has really helped us grow in confidence when having a go at reading unfamiliar words.
We are beginning to transfer these skills into other lessons such as English where we use our sound buttons to read words and build simple sentences.
We also practice reading our tricky words every day and have so much fun being word detectives! We love pointing out tricky words we have spotted in our reading books or during class story time. We are getting brilliant at finding and reading them.
