The children in Cedar Class have been applying their phonic knowledge in their writing this week. Our focus text “The Way Home for Wolf” has inspired the children to write, draw, create, visualise and develop thinking and vocabulary.
They have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Polar regions and this text helped bring the Arctic to the classroom. The children recognised our value of the week in the story, when Wilf the wolf found his way back home with the help of Narwhal, walrus, musk-ox, Arctic Fox, moose, goose and bear-moth. His return brought joy to his family. The children enjoyed thinking of different words to describe ‘happy’ and ‘sad’. They love learning new words and being given opportunities to use them.
