Today we had an amazing practical science lesson together! First, we were shown an image of a plant. We then went on to share our initial thoughts about what we already knew about plants. Next, we were given a real plant to look at and explore the different features we could recognise. We used magnifying glasses to look closely at the plant. At first, we thought that the plant was covered in cobwebs.
After further discussion and input on the carpet we learned that it was roots that we saw on the plant and not cobwebs. Finally, we returned to our plants and were able to label some of the features which we could now recognise such as the stem, roots, leaves and petals
