A Wonderful Week in Willow!

19th Mar 2026

We have been living ‘Life in all it’s Fullness’ this week in Willow. Our focus books this term have followed the adventures of Supertato. The children have enjoyed getting to know the heroic Supertato and the villain Evil Pea! We have used the story to inspire our writing, creating simple sentences, labels, and role playing superheroes. The children showed great enthusiasm and creativity, and it was lovely to see their confidence blossom as they began to turn their ideas into writing.

In maths, we have been focusing on subitising. The children are working hard at recognising quantities without counting. They can now do this with numbers up to 10. This week they have used the tens frame and counters to support them. The children have been developing their number confidence and beginning to recognise patterns in numbers. They particularly enjoyed a quick fire challenge game and using objects to represent different amounts.

We have also made the most of the great weather in our courtyard area this week. The sand area has been especially popular, with children digging, building, pouring, and exploring different textures. Outdoor play has supported not only their physical development but also their teamwork, communication, and imaginative play.

It has been a fantastic week full of curiosity, fun, and learning. Check out our wonderful pictures below!
