Celebrating Aldersgate Day
This week we have been 'Living Life in all it's Fullness' by celebrating Aldersgate Day. This term we have been learning all about John Wesley and how he travelled around the country on his horse Gospel. He visited many different places spreading the word of God. In our geography lesson we made puppets and used a map to move John around the country embedding our skills on using compass points. John also travelled to America and on his way back the ship was in a terrible storm, but nobody was frightened as they were all singing to God. On his return to England, one of the other people on the ship invited John to a meeting at Aldersgate Street where they read Bible stories. This was the day that John said his heart felt strangely warm. This is why we celebrate the day as the start of Methodism. This afternoon we have enjoyed creating some bible quote bookmarks and creating pictures of John Wesley. We also loved singing the World is My Parish song.
