Christian Aid Week In Evergreen!
This week in Evergreen class, we have been 'Living Life In All Its Fullness' discovering the work of Christian Aid. We discussed what is really important to our lives such as the need for food, water, shelter and education. Then what is nice to have such as computers and sweets. We watched a story of Aline, who was supported by Christian Aid because she had no food, water, shelter and means for getting a job. We learned that she was supported by Christian Aid and can now support others in her community to also have a better life. Although Christian is in the name of the charity, we discovered that they would support anyone around the world who are in need.
We then watched the parable of The Sheep and the Goat. We thought about the messages we learn from God and remembered that Jesus told his followers that the greatest commandment was to love God and you neighbour as yourself. This is why many Christians choose to put this into action by helping people in need. We discussed this as a class and thought that it reminded us of our school prayer 'to do all the good you can'.
We then made posters and friendship bracelets. to think of how lucky we are. Some of us decided to give our friendship bracelets to someone we cared about.
