History in Willow Class
16th Oct 2025
In Willow Class, we celebrated Black History Month by exploring stories and creative activities that helped us understand and appreciate diversity. We read A Boy in His Mirror and talked about how everyone is unique and special in their own way, and how it’s important to be kind and respectful to others no matter how different they are. The children created beautiful artwork inspired by traditional patterns, using shapes and colours to express what they had learned. We also explored the work of Alma Thomas, creating colourful, patterned pieces inspired by her abstract style. To finish our celebration, we used bright colours to decorate pictures of traditional foods, helping the children connect art, culture, and creativity in a joyful and meaningful way whilst living life in all its fullness.
