Maple class learn about Sikhism

29th Jan 2026
This week during R.E we have continued learning all about the Sikh religion.

We began our learning by reflecting what we had found out about in previous lessons and really enjoyed having a mini quiz.

Next, we were introduced to the word festival. We talked about what we thought this meant and reflected on known festivals like Christmas and Easter.

Then, we shared a selection of images taken from the festival of Baisakhi. In pairs, we talked and discussed what we could see happening focusing on the events during the festival e.g. food, dancing. Then we shared our thoughts.

After that, we listened to some music that would be played during the festival and enjoyed trying to copy some of the moves.

Finally, we learned about a second festival called Diwali. We found out about how it is celebrated within the Sikh religion and how it is an important festival of light. We created our own Diya Lamps using clay and gems to decorate. We loved making these and have really shown how to 'Live Life in all it's Fullness.'
