Marvellous mathematicians

16th Apr 2026

This week, we have consolidated our learning on capacity. First, we completed an investigation. We used different sized containers to measure capacity. We looked at using cubes to see how many it would take to fill each container. Then, we used cups of water. We had to make sure each cup was completely full before we poured them into the container. We then decided whether it was easier to measure the capacity with cubes or water and we gave our reasons. We also used our containers to show full, empty, half full, nearly empty and nearly full. Next, we read a story called ‘A beach for Albert’ about a little mouse who wanted to create a swimming pool. We wondered which container would work the best for filling up the pool. We have loved exploring capacity this week and have shown how to 'Live Life in all it's Fullness.'
