Phonics, Stories and Our Church Visit
This week in Willow Class, we have been living life in all its fullness while focusing on phonics and spelling. We have worked hard on our Basic 3 digraphs, reading them in words, and practising our tricky words.
We have applied these skills when reading and writing captions for our story, The Way Home for Wolf, which has linked to our learning about winter and the Northern Lights. We enjoyed listening to music and imagining being in space, surrounded by stars and colourful lights.
We also explored the ‘ur’ sound in the word church, linking to our fantastic visit to the church this week.
During our visit to the church, we listened to and acted out Bible stories, including The Presentation of Jesus at the Temple. We also heard a Christian story called The Two Brothers and the Apple Tree, which taught us about kindness and forgiveness. We enjoyed making a light decoration and singing! We are so grateful for the wonderful learning and experiences we had at the church.
Well done, Willow Class!
