Remembrance Day
This week we have been 'Living Life in all its Fullness' by celebrating Remembrance Day.
We enjoyed making our poppies but have learnt all about their true meaning and what they represent at this time of year.
We have loved reading the story of 'Stubby' and learning more about how animals also helped in the war.
We also know that Remembrance Day is also a time to reflect on current conflicts and think about the service people who were able to come home but struggle with daily battles on their return.
Miss Lewis showed us some pictures of her brother Craig who has been in army cadets since he was 14. He then joined the military and was part of the Household Cavalry division who protected the Queen, this is where he learnt to ride a horse. Craig was also very lucky to be involved in the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Princess Kate. He also had to go to war and Miss Lewis is very thankful that he was one of the lucky people that came home. Animals have very good memories and years after leaving the army Craig was able to go back and visit his horse. During his time, he taught his horse how to do certain things and when he went back to visit the horse followed his command and remembered what he had to do. Miss Lewis is very proud of everything he achieved and even though he has now left the army, he marched in the Remembrance Parade this year as an Afghan Veteran. She was even able to spot him on the television marching.
We will remember them.
