Willow class trip

13th Jun 2025
Willow class had the most wonderful time at Bishops Wood today. We started the day with the story 'Katy and the caterpillar' before heading out to the meadow to look for the pretend caterpillars. This activity allowed us to learn about camouflage. We then got out the nets to see what insects we could catch. The children loved this and were so excited when we caught the grasshoppers! Some of us even held them in our hands! Following a picnic lunch we headed into the woods to look for bugs! We learnt about the bugs habitats and Steven, our guide, showed us the best places to look and how to handle them. We found lots of woodlice, ladybird larvae, black beetles, millipedes and wiggly worms! Finally it was our turn to go pond dipping and we were so excited that we managed to collect lots of newt tadpoles. Well done Willow class, you really are living life in all its fullness.
