Wonderful Writing!
3rd Jul 2025
At Holly Hill, we believe that writing can be done anywhere. We have been enjoying the weather and creating opportunities for learning to flourish in the open space of the courtyard. Taking writing outside in the early years inspires curiosity, encourages imagination, and provides new sensory experiences that spark creativity. Whether it is drawing with chalk on the ground, tracing words in the sand/flour, or using paintbrushes to make marks, outdoor mark making helps children develop fine motor skills and early literacy in fun, meaningful ways. This approach nurtures a love for writing by making it playful, active, and connected to the world around them. This also links to our key person David Attenborough, who is teaching us the importance of caring for our world.
