World Book Day in Year One!
We had the best day ever! We absolutely loved dressing up for World Book Day, our outfits were fantastic! We had Supertato, princesses, Zog the dragon, superheroes, the Gruffalo, pirates and so many more! We had a wonderful day exploring a new story called The Sea Saw, by Tom Percival. In this story, a girl loses her beloved teddy and the sea works to get it back to her. We designed our perfect teddy and thought about what would make it perfect for us. Then in the afternoon, we got to have a go at making boats out of different materials to see if it would have survived the difficult weather the bear had to go through to get back to its owner. We loved scrunching the shiny foil and making a storm in the water! Then we thought about how broken Sophie’s heart must have been when she lost her teddy. We thought about how sometimes things happen in our lives that can make our hearts break, and we thought about what makes us feel better. We thought about things like hugs with our family, when someone smiles at us, going somewhere special or doing something fun. We had hearts that we ripped, and then put on plasters to make it better. We drew pictures to show what made our heart feel better. Look at some of our photographs of our fantastic day 'Living Life in all its Fullness.'
