Phonics Screening
All children in Year 1 take a Phonics screening check in Summer Term. This is a test is to see how the children are progressing with their phonics and reading skills. The children are asked to read a range of words, real and pseudo (Alien). This information is then reported to the government. If a child does not pass the screening in Year 1 they must retake it in Year 2 unless the child has significant learning needs.
