Bring it on Brum!

We’re getting ready for the best summer ever in Birmingham with the country’s biggest holiday activities and food (HAF) programme... so let’s Bring it on Brum!

A programme that’s helping Birmingham’s children, young people and their families have active, fun-filled and healthy school holidays. Part of the government’s new nationwide Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme, ‘Bring it on Brum!’ is the biggest scheme of its kind in the country, and Birmingham City Council in partnership with Street Games are really excited to bring it to YOU!

Throughout the summer holidays from July 24th to September 1st, children aged 4 to 16 will be able to come along to the Bring it on Brum! holiday clubs across the city to help make it a holiday to remember. They’ll be able to enjoy all sorts of fun activities for their age group and a tasty meal each day. There will be sports and games, arts and crafts, cookery, dance, music and much more – daily programmes will vary depending on the site and location of each local club.

Everyone deserves a good break and school holidays are better when there’s a great choice of things to do to keep young people active, having fun, and learning new things. It’s all about making memories, recharging the batteries - and giving parents a bit less to worry about!

The programme is open to families with school-aged children on benefit-related free school meals, and all activities and food are free. Providers will be setting up their holiday clubs in local communities right across the whole of Birmingham so they’re within walking distance of those who will benefit most.

Northfield Community Partnership is excited to say that part of the funding for this year’s beach events has been provided by the HAF program.

Introduction

We are proud at Northfield Community Partnership, to announce for the 11th year we are bringing our beaches back, with this year having double the fun with two beaches! One on Kings Norton Green and one in Victoria Common in Northfield.

This will be our 11th year anniversary of Northfield Beach we have a huge range of activities as ever we have a fun packed line up of beach favourites, our Jurassic Park Day, with Dino digs, and Tiny the Triceratops will be joining us for the day, come and enjoy his interactive show!

Arts and Crafts activities will be provided by NAF daily, take part in a wide range of art activities, make costumes, and build part of our cardboard city.

Due to popular demand, we will also be bringing back our mad hatter’s tea party and hat competition.

In Northfield we have our very own circus school where performances and workshops will be on offer throughout the day, learn to juggle, try unicycling, spin some plates and be entertained by magical performers.

We will be bringing back our popular cookery school, where families can learn about healthy cooking on a budget and take part in making some delicious food.

Join us in our Rainbow tent showcasing a range of theatre. Poetry storytelling and performances. Hosted by SPOZ, a renowned performer and poet laureate, who will entrance the children telling his funny and magical stories (Northfield only).

Oya Batucada – Birmingham’s premier Samba school will be performing and leading a samba parade at both Kings Norton and Northfield.

At both Northfield and Kings Norton beaches a range of activities and sports will be provided, including a climbing wall (on certain days, please check in brochure)

As ever all the activities that we provide will be free, and we would like to thank all our funders for making this possible. We hope that there will be something on offer for all the family and we look forward to welcoming you back to the beaches!
